In Spanish, we have three verb groups or conjugations. The conjugations are based on the endings of the verbs: -ar, -er, and -ir.
But what does “conjugation” mean?
It’s simply the way we change the verb ending to match the subject (who or what is doing the action) and the tense (when the action happens). The biggest difference between the conjugations is the “thematic vowel” (a, e or i), but there are also other differences in the form of the verb:
Yo cantaba (I used to sing).
Yo comía (I used to eat).
In the following resources, you’ll find all the tenses in Spanish, fully conjugated for three regular verbs—one for each conjugation type.
You’ll also discover some verb tenses that are no longer used in daily conversation, but still appear in literature or formal writing.
